You Too Can Teach.

Last night I was scrolling through Tumblr (yes I have one of those, and yes I stay away from the sketchy side of it) and I came across this wonderful quote from Pastor Rick Warren:

I quickly realized that that's precisely my goal with my blog. I don't share the links to my posts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to say, "Hey everyone! Look at how smart I am! Look at all of the hard situations I'm facing but also all of the really cool stuff I'm learning!!!"

When I started this blog back in 2015, literally only two of my friends knew about it. And when they asked me if they could share my posts on their own blogs or on other social media platforms, I said no. I was adamantly against it. Why? Because I wrote about a lot of real stuff. And back then my mindset was that of 'Heaven forbid people know that I'm more than a smile-y, loud-laughing, constantly-complimenting-people person.'

But I've come to realize that I have things to say. I have the ability to encourage other people. And not just in saying things such as "I like your hair", "I love that sweater!", or "Your friendship means so much to me". I've been learning that I don't need to have a degree from teacher's college in order to teach. I can teach and encourage other people just by writing about different situations that I've been going through, and how I've seen God's presence and His faithfulness in everything.

And then I share these posts on other social media platforms so that people with whom I rub shoulders with every day can read them. To be honest, I still don't always love knowing that people actually read my blog and by extension know stuff about me, but I'm slowly learning that I've gotta lay my pride aside.

So yes. I guess in a way I actually am saying "Look at all of the hard situations I'm facing. But also, look at all of the really cool stuff I'm learning!" But really, I'm sharing because I want people to realize that they're not alone. I've come across other people's blog posts wherein they share about things that I've also experienced, but I'd thought no one else dealt with.

And I hope that my posts can encourage others in that way as well.
